Studying Campanology
Campanology—the study of carillons and bells—is a rich field with deep historical and musical significance. However, Japanese-language resources on this subject remain scarce. To help preserve and expand this knowledge, I will dedicate 2025 to translating and studying key campanological materials originally written in Dutch and English, with a focus on the works of renowned bell scholar André Lehr.
By making these resources accessible in Japanese, I hope to foster greater appreciation for bell culture in Japan and contribute to the global dialogue surrounding carillon music and heritage.

2nd Carillon Composition Competition
In 2025, we will host the 2nd Carillon Composition Competition to encourage the creation of new works for carillon and to inspire a deeper appreciation for the art of bell music in Japan. This initiative aims to cultivate creativity, support emerging composers, and expand the cultural presence of the carillon both nationally and internationally.

Contributing to the Preservation of Carillon
We are committed to maintaining Japan’s existing carillons in playable condition, ensuring their continued use as cultural and musical instruments. In fiscal year 2025, at the request of Itami City, we will undertake a year-long maintenance project for the Itami “Flanders Bells” Carillon. This effort reflects our dedication to preserving the legacy and sound of these treasured instruments for future generations.

KOBE30
In 2025, we mark the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake—a moment of reflection, remembrance, and resilience. To honor this occasion, we will perform Shiawase Hakoberu Youni ("To Make Happiness a Habit"), a piece composed in the aftermath of the disaster, at the Itami Carillon and other carillons around the world.
This global tribute will also feature two specially commissioned works: Requiem to You in 1995 by Naoto Omasa, director of the Japan Carillon Society, and a new requiem by Marty Carreras Almar, a composer from Barcelona—Kobe’s sister city. The latter will be performed at the carillon in Barcelona, Catalonia, symbolizing international solidarity and shared remembrance through music.
35th Anniversary Itami Carillon
On November 9, 2025, the Itami “Bells of Flanders” carillon will mark its 35th anniversary—a milestone of music, memory, and community. To honor this occasion, we are planning a special concert in collaboration with the local community. Join us in celebrating the enduring legacy of this beloved instrument and the joy it continues to bring. Stay tuned for more details—we look forward to sharing this moment with you!

Publication of the Carillon Magazin
We regularly publish the Carillon Magazins to share updates on performances, events, research, and preservation efforts related to carillon music in Japan and beyond. It serves as a platform to connect enthusiasts, musicians, and communities through the sound and culture of bells.
